Corten Compass
Metfab designed, fabricated and installed this custom directional landmark for a parkland in Clayton. Featuring premium Corten steel panels with hot-dip galvanised steel posts, the installation points towards Melbourne and surrounding locations while providing direction and distance. Built to withstand the elements, the Corten steel will continue to develop its natural weathered patina over time, creating a striking feature within the landscape.
Corten Steel Cladding
This project involved fabricating and installing custom corten steel cladding panels to cover and replace an existing deteriorating railway sleeper retaining wall. The before photos show the aged timber sleepers in poor condition, while the after shots reveal the transformation — clean, modern corten steel panels fitted seamlessly over the existing structure across multiple tiered garden beds. The natural rust patina of the corten steel ties beautifully into the surrounding landscaping, ornamental grasses, and plantings, delivering a durable and striking result that will only improve with age.
Stonybrook Development
We fabricated and installed a series of large corten steel portal frames and entrance signage structures for the Stonybrook residential development. The works included custom corten letter signage mounted to gabion stone walls, decorative portal frame features lining the development's main boulevard, and detailed corten steel fabrication throughout. The natural weathering finish of the corten steel complements the stone and landscaping elements, creating a striking and cohesive identity for the estate.

Onsite Fence Fix
Onsite fabrication and installation of a new steel fence panel to replace a damaged chain mesh fence at a commercial property. The team removed the old collapsed fencing, fabricated a custom steel palisade panel, and crane-lifted it into position before welding it in place on the day.
Skate Park - Finished Design
Completed skate park installation in Prahran featuring a full-size Corten steel half-pipe and custom structural steel framework. A stunning landmark project showcasing MetFab's precision fabrication capabilities.
Skate Park - Being Built
Fabrication and installation of a large-scale steel skate park in Prahran. Structural steel frames, half-pipe ramps and balustrades were fabricated in-house at our Bayswater workshop before being crane-lifted and installed on site.
6mm Corten Ring
Large-scale 6mm Corten steel ring retaining wall installed as a landscape feature in a public park. The curved steel panels were crane-lifted and precision-fitted on site, creating a striking circular garden bed that has developed a beautiful rust patina over time.
Puffin Bill Train Cabin
Custom steel fabrication of a heritage steam locomotive cab for the Puffing Billy railway. MetFab precision-fabricated the driver's cabin from steel plate, including all cut-outs, rolled roof sections and structural components, before delivering and fitting to the restored locomotive.
Corten Wall Cladding
Large-scale Corten steel wall cladding and decorative laser-cut panels featuring a native eucalyptus leaf design. This commercial project combined full building cladding with ornate perforated fence panels, creating a striking and cohesive streetscape.
